My 2018 Year In Review video popped up in my facebook feed the other day. If you’re on Facebook you’ve probably seen yours too.
As I watched the brief video that showcased a handful of meaningful moments from the past year, I was reminded of some of the wonderful things that have happened this year:
I got a tattoo. All the kids birthdays. Some incredible speaking gigs. Articles I’ve written. The clients and companies I’ve been fortunate to serve. The miles run on the treadmill. The back to school pics that confirm my kids are indeed getting older. The fashion show I got a chance to participate in. The summer trip to the Jersey Shore that my husband’s been dreaming of for years. All the outings & meaningful moments with the kids. And much much more....
All it took was one minute of watching that video, to remind me how important (and delightful) it is to pause and take stock of what has come before.
As the new year approaches and you focus on setting goals or simply contemplating the year ahead, take a few quiet and slow moments to look back.
You may even want to sit down for a moment, put pen to paper and make a small list of some of the things that were pretty great, meaningful or important this past year.
In our quest for more, it’s easy to lose sight of and dismiss the value of what we’ve already accomplished. I hope you won’t.
While of course I can never guarantee results, because you know, we’re human, I can tell you this; anymove you make, no matter how big or small, to help yourself feel good, to bring a smile to your face or a warmth to your heart, to feel proud or delighted about anything, puts you in a more powerful position for growth.
Authentic appreciation. These are my anchoring words as the year comes to a close.
