Last night it rained. So, the path I take each morning to bike my daughter to school is filled with puddles.
From a distance they just look like a muddy rain puddles; grey and wet and kind of bothersome, something to try and avoid.
But as I get closer and closer to each one I realize that if you look closely, you can see the a gorgeous, sharp image of the trees and city landscape reflected in each one. The image is actually quite magnificent.
Once I realized how cool these puddle reflections were, I began looking forward to peeking inside each puddle as we biked along to school. Needless to say, the bike ride on this day was rather inspiring and cool.
Our life will forever be filled with puddles. There will be unexpected rain, and cold weather and whipping winds. There will be upsetting moments and messiness and times where we will question if we've really got what it takes.
There will be seasons of darkness, situations that come up that we'd rather not look at and moments of overwhelming stress.
But maybe all those things, that at first sight feel like something we'd most like to avoid are actually here to show us something striking and remarkable that we most need to see.
Here's the thing about living a fulfilling and inspired life, you have to first be open to the possibility of seeing your life this way. You have to be willing to look into your own 'puddles' and see them as unique opportunities to see something pretty great.
What are the puddles in your life right now?
What (something great) might they be trying to get you to see?
