He's a freelance photographer with a wife and 12 year old daughter. He loves his day job but the work is inconsistent and he's having a little trouble making ends meet.
His heart has always called for him to sing.
But there's bills to pay and mouths to feed and a family that really needs him. There's real and legitimate reasons why he can't just let himself be free.
He begins to tell us about his financial hardship. And as he says that a few of his mortgage payments have been late, his voice begins to crack, his head drops down and a tear trickles down his face.
Through his vulnerability, I can feel my own.
With his honesty, I am captivated.
Because of his emotion, I have been moved.
And now I don't give a damn what his voice sounds like, I don't care one bit if he can carry a tune, because I can seen his realness; I can feel his pain. So when he steps onto the stage and picks up the microphone, I'm totally in. I'm already on his side.
Let us be moved by why you want your thing. Let us see how much it really means.
Let us feel the emotion right along with you. We are strengthened by your vulnerability.
Don't deprive us of the opportunity to connect with you. Don't rob yourself of your greatest life by hiding your Real Self away.
The world wants you to have exactly what you want; but first you've got to show us what it really means.
Happy Friday. I hope it's been a really great week.
If this post moved you, I'd love to hear. Feel free to tell me about it below.
