I'm at the playground with the kids. There's no school today or tomorrow (or for 2 days next week) in honor of the Jewish Holidays.
At first I was feeling kind of pissed. I'm at the playground and I really want to be working.
But for right now, in this very moment, I've got no choice. I signed up for this. I didn't hire a sitter. I said yes to the kids.
So, I can decide to sit down, put my face in the sun, and enjoy what is. I can decide to enjoy playing with my kids on this gorgeous Fall day.
I can decide to see the gift of what's in front of me or I can be pissed.
I'm not saying this like it's so easy to do. Trust me, I know that it's not. But this is the real work, the higher spiritual practice that really does lead us to what we truly want.
Being pissed is a low level response and never delivers us anything good.
So, if you're feeling stuck or pissed or somehow disappointed, here's what I recommend.
Let yourself react to what's frustrating or stressing you. Let it out. Acknowledge that it's real and true.
Step two is to take control of what you decide to do next.
You can choose to hire a sitter or you can be with your kids. You can choose to go to work or to take the day off and go to the gym. You can choose to be upset that you don't have more clients or you can embrace this time to figure out what needs fixing in your biz.
It doesn't matter what you choose, it matters that you actually give yourself permission to love yourself after you've said yes.
Can you love what's in front of you right now? I challenge you today to try this. You in?
ps. Clearly I did get to work today because I'm writing you this note. It turns out my kids are taking a wonderfully long nap. It's proof that when you let yourself enjoy what's in front of you, the Universe will always intervene to help you out.
You're supposed to enjoy yourself woman; not be pissed.
